APCS PROPOSED BLOCKAGE OF FEDERAL PROPOSALS, POTENTIAL ECONOMIC - TopicsExpress

APCS PROPOSED BLOCKAGE OF FEDERAL PROPOSALS, POTENTIAL ECONOMIC SHUTDOWN, ANARCHY, AND DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY Once again, Nigerians have shown that the personal interest of elected officials overrides that of the electorate. APC ought to be a very good opposition party that would make the ruling party sit up, but what we have seen since its ratification by INEC makes one bold to say that this party portends danger to our nascent democracy. I crave your attention as I juxtapose the issues that this self-styled party failed to bring to public glare before x-raying the inanity in the points canvassed for by the party under review. First, a balanced observation of the acclaimed political turmoil in Rivers State will illuminate lopsided viewpoint. For instance, a disinterested troubled mind would want to know what APC said when Amaechi railroaded the State Assembly peopled by those whose fealty are to him, to hurriedly and illegally pass the budget, thereby contravening the Constitution. Did APC comment on it? Is it that they are blind when their members act illegally? If that be the case, wont APC be worse than PDP? I leave you to ratiocinate. Second, what has APC said concerning Amaechis recalcitrance, especially in respect of holding a botched rally in Ogoniland against warnings from the people? Doesnt this show that Amaechi puts himself and interest first? Has APC ever reminded this obstinate Governor that his actions should be in tandem with the Oath of Office he took during his swearing-in ceremony? Does this not show that APC is a party that judges an act based on the actor: for them, an act is right when an APC member is the doer, but wrong when a non-APC member is the doer. Such an umpire (APC in this case) is, actually, a veritable tool for enthroning totalitarianism, anarchy, impunity, and dictatorship cloaked in democracy. Third, some persons see this party (APC) as one laden with the agenda of the West. Some, and I beg to pitch tent with them, see what is happening in the country as a repeat of what the West did to the East during the Biafra War. According to this group, the proposed blockade is akin to that of Biafra War, since that was how food was blocked by the West. The philosophy of the history of the rift between the West and the East divulges avalanches of subjective accounts. Anyway, APC has gone about its political activities as a party influenced by region. To buttress my stand, ask them what it is that they have against the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and you will come to know that it is all about where the President comes from. A critical reader would want to counter this by saying that the West voted for the President in the last election, and that the region he comes from cannot be the problem. My rejoinder would be terse: where has the President gone wrong, bearing in mind that the West have derived benefit from Federal appointments much more than the Niger Delta region? Now here is another poser: Has Buhari changed from whom he has always been, since during the election that brought the President into power, Buhari did not win the support of Tinubu and his ardent followers? Buhari, from public opinion, has not changed since his government was ousted via military putsch. In that case, Tinubu pitched his tent with the President because he had personal interest. Now, we all know that Jonathans educational background makes him a colossus for anybodys pocket. I think that is the remote cause of this. Let me do justice to the proposed government shutdown. One, the party has asked its members in the National Assembly to cause a stampede in the Houses should any proposal, including the National Budget, be sent by the President. Dear friends, is Rivers State the only State that is in chaos? Where were these APC members when the dreaded Boko Haram almost eroded the North? Did they ask the respective CPs to resign? Have these APC people told the Federal Government what they think will stem the tide? Another point is that an attack on Federal proposals is an attack on the people of Nigeria. Can interest take APC this far? Did PDP ever use its majority status in both legislative Houses this way? Did PDP ever attempt to shut down democracy? Can someone see the clear chasm between PDP and APC? Does APC have the interest of Nigerians at heart? Lastly, if the APC stalls the passage of the budget, the president can spend money recurrently (payment of salaries) for six months, after which he cant spend a dime. Well, even the APC members in the Houses would be affected. At that sorry state, the President can declare a State of Emergency on the nation. Does APC know what they are doing? This has finally eroded the scintilla of doubt I use to have about Rivers State being the chief funder of APCs programmes. This is what Amaechi has turned himself into: a money-bag for the West. It is clear now that APC is the worst thing that can happen to Nigeria. May God help us!
