APPEAL According to section 129 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, it is mandatory for every person driving and riding pillion on two wheelers to wear approved protective headgear (Helmet). Section 177 of Motor Vehicle Act specifies that for the first offence a fine of Rs.100/- can be imposed, for second offence the fine may extend to Rs.300/-. The Bombay High Court has also upheld the above provision. (PIL 87of 2001: Ravishankar Bhardwaj and others v/s DGP, Maharashtra State and others.) The citizens are herby requested to follow the rules and Co-operate with the Traffic Police.
