APPEAL: Do you recognise this property? We are hoping to reunite the suspected stolen strimmer and lawnmower with its rightful owner/s after they were recovered from a property in St Nicholas Avenue, Norton. Three teenagers, from the Norton area, have been arrested in connection with the theft and released on police bail, pending further inquiries. People are encouraged to check their sheds and outbuildings to make sure their gardening equipment is still in situ and are reminded of the below crime prevention advice: To secure property: •Do not leave valuable items in your shed. •Property stored in a shed should be marked with a ultra-violet marker pen. •Place a strong chain through lawn mowers, bicycles and other equipment and then secure to a ground anchor fixed to the base of the shed. •Fit internal screens, grills or sheets of perspex to the inside of window frames, preventing a potential thief from seeing in. Securing your shed: •Most shed doors are secured by a hasp, staple and padlock: Use padlocks of the close shackled type, i.e. with no gap. The hasp and staple should be fitted to the door with coach-bolts and secured on the inside with a large washer and lock nut. •Install a shed alarm, which are reasonably cheap, without wiring and make a piercing sound when activated. If you think the items might be yours please contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 294 of August 13.
