APPEAL: We are appealing for witnesses following a large scale fire at a shop in Tunstall. The fire at Mr Big Deal on the High Street has now been confirmed as arson following a joint investigation at the site this morning (Tues) by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and police scenes of crime officers. The building has been left severely damaged as a result of the fire, which resulted in several roads having to be closed off, and diversions put in place, over the last two days. We were alerted to the fire just after 11.40pm that night by our colleagues at the fire service, who were already in attendance. We recognise the fire has had a significant impact on the town centre and would like to thank local people and businesses for their patience and understanding during this period of disruption. Detectives are now conducting an investigation into this fire and we want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious persons and/or activity around the shop late on Sunday night (June 22).
