APRIL FOOL! One of my all-time best April Fool pranks was the time when I knew I would arrive home from work before my then-girlfriend. I bought a large bouquet of flowers in a new vase and no card. I left the flowers on the coffee table in the living room so that shed definitely see them on the way in, then I went to the bedroom to await her return. She starting making a fuss over the flowers as soon as she saw them, knowing that I was in the bedroom because she could see that the light was on. When she came to the bedroom, I was sitting on the side of the bed with my chin to my chest, pouting silently. She started thanking me for the flowers until she could see that something was wrong. She asked me what had happened, and I said, Those flowers arrived from your admirer. Im sorry I read the card, but I didnt know who they were for. Its in there somewhere. I threw it. Who sent them? she asked. I sure dont know who would. I cant talk about it, I said. Go read it for yourself. I swear I dont know who could have sent them, she said on her way back to the living room. I promise you! After searching fruitlessly for a bit, she came back to the bedroom, where I had my own card waiting. I gave it to her, and with deep worry etched on her face she opened it and read that is said, April Fool! And thats when my severe beating began. I still have the scars.
