ARE WE BECOMING HIGH-TECH SLAVES ? A slave can never be happy. Unless we can make ourselves do the things that we know we need to, but may not want to, we are slaves of our habits. Our lifestyle makes us slaves to even the things that we own, things that are supposed to be our servitors - the cellphone, the laptop etc. And yet, they are not evil in themselves ; they are gifts of science and technology to us. We need to learn to use them better - with wisdom and balance. We must learn to differentiate between wants/desires, and needs. Food may be our desire, but our need may be exercise. Seeing the late-night serial on the TV may be what we want, but the need may be sound sleep. If we so little love and care for our own selves, can there be any way to love others ? And yet so many claim to love so many everyday. We all want ever-lasting peace, joy and love. The world cannot offer these. But if we all have a consistent desire for these, they must be somewhere. They are ; right within. In the kingdom of our soul. We are souls, not these bodies and minds that are in constant flux. Daily meditation can establish us into soul-awareness, and that would be the end to all our problems. When we heal the soul of its ego and ignorance, we durably heal the body and mind as nothing else can.
