ARE YOU SPIRITUALLY CURRENT? Glory be to God the Father for His love upon our lives, and thanks be to Jesus Christ our Lord for His tender mercies. Some couple of months ago, I was chatting with a friend of mine from South Africa, and during the course of our chats he asked me the weather condition of my country, Nigeria.I replied, Hmm! My friend, we are in rainy season in Nigeria. He then replied, There is nothing like rainy season and he insisted that I tell him the weather condition of my country. Prior to this time, I only knew of two different weather seasons which are Winter and Summer. I knew quite well that we were neither in both, and due to the fact that there was constant rainfall during that period I insisted that we were in rainy season. That now made him to inculcate me. He told me we only have four different weather conditions namely, Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn. He told me the weather condition of his country and advised me to be current about the weather condition of my country and also take cognizance of those minute things that might seem inconsequential, because more often than not, little things are usually significant. I appreciated him and I was glad that I learnt a new lesson that day. My friend knew I am current concerning the situation of things in my country, but he was utterly astounded to found out that despite my little exposure I didnt know the weather condition of my country. That made him stupefied and he left me with the impression that I am not current at all if I dont know the weather condition of my country. I knew the salient point which my friend was trying to conveyed to me and I am glad he did. After the chat, I ruminated for awhile and I examined myself to see if though I am not spiritually current as well. Not being current concerning the situation of things in ones country is very bad, but when one is not current spiritually danger looms. Not being current about the weather condition of your country is not good but it is not a sin. But when you are not current about your spiritual state, I am afraid to tell you that, you are standing on dangerous ground. As Christians, inasmuch as we need to be current about the state of things in our dear country and in the world at large, we must also ensure that we are current about the state of our soul. The latter is more crucial than the former, however both are very imperative! It is not everyone that know what is going on in their country, and it is not a crime for someone not to know. But it is incumbent on everyone to know where he/she is standing spiritually. When we are not current spiritually, we wont know where we are standing spiritually. And I am very sure we dont want to wake up one morning and discover that the rapture had already taken place! Of course we dont want that to be our lot, therefore, it behooves us now to be cognizance about our spiritual state. No wonder it is written in the Bible that we should examine ourselves and know whether we are still in the faith. Even David prayed that God should search his heart and see whether there is any evil way in him. My dear, the importance of being spiritually current cannot be overemphasize. We just must be current spiritually if we want to enjoy good progress spiritually. There are only two reasons why a person will not be spiritually current:it is either the person is a babe in Christ or he/she is not even in Christ. Ask a toddler the name of his/her parent, it most likely you wont be getting the correct answer, because he/she is still a baby and he/she is not current about what is even going on in his/her home not to talk of his/her parents names. That is also true in the spiritual realm, a babe in Christ might not know where he is standing and that is why God wants us to be mature spiritually. You cant see a mature Christian that will not be current about his spiritual state. That person dont even need to tell you that he is current, but you will just discover it yourself because all his dispositions will be propelled by that spiritual state of his. All his action will be geared towards making heaven. As we are looking forward to the soon return of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, I did like to remind us that it is very imperative for us to be current spiritually. I want you to ask yourself this questions this very moment, Where am I standing spiritually? Am I spiritually current? The answer to those questions imperiously deserves an answer, and I did like you to give a sincere answer to them, and if there is any thing you need to make right so that you can be sure of your spiritual state, please make it right.
