AREGBE OINHUMAN: Osun Demolition: Aregbesola OLIE deceiving to Compensation Arrangements have been concluded to pay the sum of two billion naira as compensation and palliatives to landlords and tenants whose buildings were affected by the separation exercise during the construction of major roads in Osogbo. Governor of the state, Mr Rauf Aregbesola disclosed this in Osogbo, Friday during a meeting with affected landlords and tenants. He promised that the money will be paid up in batches before the end of the year. Governor Aregbesola said intention of government on massive road construction in the state is to speed up the economic development of the state. He however explained that government realises the effect of the exercise on affected individuals; adding that the delay in the payment of compensation and palliatives was due to the shortfall in the federal allocation that is due to the state. He pointed out that despite the paucity of funds, his present administration has spent about 812 million naira as compensation and palliatives to people whose properties have been affected as a result of the infrastructural development his administration is embarking on. He enjoined the people to continue to have faith in the present administration as it is ready to continue to work for the development of the state. Its not because we want to inflict sufferings on you that we are constructing good roads, we are doing it because we have signed a pact with people of Osun to develop our state It is something we have signed with the people through the green book I know your pains and we are doing everything possible to alleviate. Its just that since last year we have been experiencing a shortfall in the allocation that is due to the state which has been reduced by 2billion naira. I urge you to please exercise patience and continue to cooperate with our government to develop our state, the palliatives and compensations will be paid before the end of the year. The Governor stated. Also speaking, Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arch. Olumuyiwa Ige, thanked the landlords and tenants for their continued cooperation, saying the delay in the payment is as a result of the shortfall in the federal allocation. He said the efforts of the Governor in embarking on the separation exercise is in a bid to make Osogbo the state capital look like a befitting state capital and not to make the people surfer, which is why government has paid compensation to shop owners whos businesses were affected. The delay in the payment of the compensation is as a result of shortfall in our allocation, we have been reaching out to the various claimants by allocating about 1,500 plots for shops and told them to come and apply for shops all in a bid to alleviate their sufferings. He stated. The duo of Alhaji Mushood Oladejo and Alhaja Sidikat Dauda who spoke on behalf of the landlords and tenants appreciated the Governor for the meeting, saying it is a demonstration of how sensitive the present administration is to the feelings and aspirations of the people. While appreciating the Governor for his efforts in developing the state, they appealed to him to ensure that the compensation and palliatives are paid on time so as to alleviate the sufferings the people are facing. My take : its almost or more than two years now that the demolish has been done, ogbeni now has few month in office and hes. Just planing to pay not paying yet, claiming it was the reduction in the allocation that has not enable him to pay the compensation, when was the reduction started, was it two years ago thats if there was any. AREGBE O LIE your time is up. OSUN TI GBON GAAAAN. IPINLE OSUN ENI IYI NI WON
