ARMED ROBBER FOUND WITH POLICE UNIFORM By Web Editor 2014-12-06 12:00 Detective Sergeant Ivan Ryneveldt with the Tactical Response Team and Lentegeur SAPS Crime Prevention team. An alleged armed robber arrested for a heist in Lentegeur was found with a police uniform in a Gugulethu home. On Tuesday at 12:30, police were alerted to an armed robbery at the corners of Katjiepiering and Lobelia streets, says provincial police spokesperson Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana. On arrival, they saw a suspicious looking man running away after seeing the police vehicles. They chased after the suspect on foot and with a vehicle. With the help of the community they located him in a house in Gugulethu, he says. According to information given to police, the victim had just arrived at a Lentegeur shop after withdrawing an undisclosed amount of money from a bank in Lansdowne. As he pulled up at the family business, he was confronted by three unknown suspects who arrived in a white Opel Corsa, demanding his money. The man was threatened with a gun. Police searched the Gugulethu house where the suspect was located that afternoon. The members discovered a silver Taurus pistol hidden in a laundry basket in the bathroom, including some cash, Kinana confirms. Inside the garage they located a parked white Opel Corsa. The vehicle was tested via the chassis number and was reported hijacked on a Kleinvlei case. They also discovered a police uniform inside the cupboards. The complainant identified the suspect as well as the firearm and vehicle found. The 44-year-old man appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Thursday. Two suspects are still at large. Anyone with information on the suspects whereabouts are urged to phone Detective Sergeant Ivan Ryneveldt on 021 377 5071 or 083 648 6239. Stay Alert Stay Safe
