ARMOUR BEARERS 2 2 kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. 13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; 14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. 15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him. Here we came in contact with a man that had a great desire, he wanted the double potion of the anointing upon his master and he actually got it just as Jesus said to the Disciples that they can really do what he had done and even greater than He had done. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Now, it should be clear to us that getting the double portion or doing greater works are not based only on desire or wishes but on the ability to serve and to serve diligently. Elijah said to Elisha, you have asked for “A HARD THING”, though hard yet possible. Elijah spell out the condition for the double portion and the condition looks simple but that is where many armor bearers are missing it today. Notice that before this condition was placed before Elisha; Elisha had gone all the way with the master Elijah shunning all the discouragements from the sons of the prophets from different quarters and that should had been seen as a good service enough to released on him the desired double portion yet the master still place a condition and that is: Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. How many armor bearers today long to see their master taking up into a higher realm of the Spirit? How many long to see their master in the deeper divine encounter with Lord? All we see today is the armor bearers competing with their master as if they are equal and even bringing them down before men. Armor bearers competing to impressed the master. Elisha never makes any move or demand for anything until the master asked him. He knew what he wanted but he never asked but waited for the opportunity from the master. The power to perform is from the master and not from us. It was Jesus Himself that promised greater works and He knew that it is needed for the work of God to be accomplished on the earth. But the key to greater works especially the works of Souls harvesting, miracles, signs and wonders are dependent on one great condition and that is that the master will be lifted up all the time. John12:32 Jesus said; And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. The end time harvest is totally depending on much of Jesus that His armor bearers are ready to lift up in the face of the world. The answer to the desire is in complete submission and service to the master and not in competition with the master. LIFT UP JESUS AND YOU WILL MANIFEST GREATER ANOINTING IN HIS NAME.
