ARRESTING NIGHT FOR PRESIDENT JOHN It was last night that Corringham Thameside celebrated their 32nd Charter and Presidents night at The Ivory Rooms in Billericay. Sixty guests, including incoming District Governor Peter Dowse attended the function which was full of surprises. After the formal speeches, President John Wallington handed over the chain of office to rotarian Danny Lawrence who will hold the office for the next year. It was at this point that Charlie Key stood up and identified himself as an undercover police officer investigating a number of serious crimes. As he outlined his case, he produced various pieces of evidence including a cannabis plant, gold ingot, hand gun and ladies underwear (rather large variety), and gradually put together a photofit of the suspect. It was not long before it was clear that he had his sights on President John who used to be an international banker. Up stepped Terry Finnegan to handcuff John and remove him from the proceedings, much to the amusement of the gathered audience. We were then entertained by singer Diane Moore who soon had everybody up singing and dancing the night away. Great fun, and super fellowship which augments well for the coming rotary year.
