ART AUCTION: LOT 4 SELF PORTRAIT Acrylic on Canvas 40cm x 50xm Artist: Sol Flores (Signed) Born in the Philippines and now living in San Fransisco, Flores began his artistic journey at the turn of the millennium, for therapeutic reasons and has since produced a body of work, that has generated significant interest in the San Franciscan art community. A shy and introverted artist, his use of bold colour and abstraction, have seen images form on canvas that range from the grotesque and ominous, to the downward spiralling of depression, chaotic and ultimately the meditative state. Flores gives us his self- portrait: a contemplative look into the mind resolute, that is at once simplistic and impactful by its minimal application of colour and line. This powerful image of a face in deep concentration, eyes shut and jaw clenched, gives insight into the human mind as is struggles to shut out the disturbance of unwelcome thoughts and voices.
