ART TORY By Lucille André Hottinguer de Villers When you look at a reclining body. You choose the way to look. Is it with contempt or even despise. Or is it with admiration or even pride. You first have to bend to it. And even to kneel in oredr to face the real visage of the statue or the statufied person. Cause any laying figure is both as paralysed and as hurt as a laying living to death body. That’s why we should kneel to it before any other move. And most of all when picture is involved. That’s why something should prevent us from taking picture with a contempting upper state of body. You must look to the face and most of all. To the eyes. Are they open? Are they closed? This seems a rather easy question. Isnt it? However if the statues seldom smile with their eyes half open half close, people do. And most of all in Northern country. For instance with the full russian smile. When the eyes are open. Most of the statufied time. We should define the posture or the imposture of the statue. Was it made fleshly and bodily of a living model. Or purely mathematically out of canonism. And are the eyes part of the canon? It is difficult to trap a smile. Both lips and eyes. In a statue. Cause this kind of attitude is contrary to the nature. We are not be made to smile. But some society reflect on how to make the full smile come true. However northern and classical the precept may be. Some times the smile become true. Where a foreign people could perceipt it as false and faked. And any diplomatic gifted person should better learnt about the picturized smile or its absence through a national iconography or through the national statufied patrimony. before smiling to the foreigner. or to the home lander. we should look at and not only look upon the statufied gisant. Cause does it imply a weakness? reclining as busts are part of the full statufixed moves. and should be regarded as potentiality never ever shown or highighted (except with the Blackamours. thanks to the white eyes and the contrast of drapes and "jewels"on the black marble) as their smile absent minded should expose. because partial statue and fallen statue should be more talented as revealing the mind spirit (for the bust). or the body mind (for the gisant). than global satue in general. cause a lack of smile or surprise gives more beauty to the stone. for it seems to be true. try and smile in front of a standing statue. tricky to smile isnt it? while we do smile peacefully at reclining body. horizontal posture facing horizontal gesture. while we smile pridefully at most bust. we seem to lack of smile in front of a standing smiling body. Lets take picture of the non smiling. for once. Lucille andré Hottinguer de Villers
