ARTIST PROFILE - Marie Mansfield My aim is to capture a moment or mood and create an emotional connection with the viewer In my work I aim to tell a story about the subject at that time by capturing a mood or feeling. Ive found its often reflective of how I feel at the time also. I like to work fast so as not to lose what I want to convey. I believe at the end of the day, amongst other things, painting is a transfer of energy. Born in Christchurch New Zealand, Marie studied at the Julian Ashton Art School and has a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication. As well as group exhibitions, Marie has been a finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Portia Geach Memorial Award, Salon des Refuses and the Black Swan Portraiture Prize.
