AS part of measures to encourage the use of crash helmets among commercial motorcyclists in Ogun State, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in conjunction with a non-government Organisation (NGO), Arrive Alive, has given out 250 free crash helmets to some of them. Addressing the riders at a seminar, during the distribution of the helmets, TRACE boss, Ayo Sangofadeji enjoined them to continue obeying traffic laws and regulations, give consideration to other road users and make patience their watchword as the year is gradually running to an end. He maintained that observing all these rules and principles would reduce road traffic crashes during the festive period and beyond, noting that commercial motorcycle riding had become an acceptable form of transportation. He tasked them to be safety conscious always, emphasising that on its part, his agency would continually embark on sensitisation programmes in line with current trends in road management. “Because of the prevailing economic conditions in our society, more and more people are taking to commercial motorcycle riding and it has gradually become our way of transportation, nonetheless, you need to be safety conscious at all times and this is why on our part, we will not relent in organising programmes like this to instill in you the safety culture,” Sangofadeji noted.
