ASK NAIJ (submitted by our reader Stanley): Yesterday, a keke (tricycle) driver poured his heart out to me. Heres his story: Im 33 years old and the only son and child of my late parents. My mum died when I was in SS1, my dad died two years after, leaving me with a house and a small portion of land for me to inherit. I was 18 years old then. Luckily for me, I had just concluded my secondary education so I entered the streets. At the age of 25, I met my heartthrob and after six months of courtship we got married. My wife told me she wouldnt give birth to a child unless she passed through school, so she went to school. I sponsored her education. Two weeks to her graduation, she died. It was like the world has ended for me. The parents of my wife accused me of killing their daughter and buried her without my consent. But I had to move on with my life. One day, the oldest man in my village sent for me and opened my eyes on the evil men still do. He told me that the problem Im facing is the handiwork of my uncle who I see as a father figure. The old man indicated that my uncle arranged to have my mum,dad and my wife killed. He couldnt kill me, too, however, but made sure Id lost everything and everyone I cared for. He wanted me to die without a child so he could claim my land. He was the one who made my wifes relatives believe I killed my wife. What do I do now? Do I go back to the rest of my family to see the killer of those I loved, or to run away with my keke? The keke driver was crying by the end of his story. When he dropped me near my compound, he said he would like to come to my place in a week or so and ask for my advice. What should I tell him?
