ASMR - Autonomous sensory meridian response is a name given in 2008 to a goosebumps and tingling feeling apparently brought on in some people by particular stimuli. Among them, apparently, are whispers, low voices and small sounds, and a number of youtube videos have sprung up which hope to elicit this response, as well as induce a pleasant relaxed state for the viewer. For me the effect is the opposite, discomfort and creeping dread. The over-modulation of this womans voice creates an overwhelming sense of insincerity, the way she moves her hands over everything, yet keeps her fingers splayed so they dont touch pushes it from insincere into artificial. For me, this chick is the receptionist at the entrance to uncanny valley.
