ASO EBI… When a friend (that had her wedding RECENTLY) - TopicsExpress

ASO EBI… When a friend (that had her wedding RECENTLY) complained that the PLASTIC (rubber) gifts she received as wedding gifts will last her a last time- I had a good laugh and reminded her about the 15k she made friends and relatives cough out for ASO EBI. If people sweat out 15k for ASO EBI(that they hardly wear twice) alone, God knows how much they will set aside for the dress maker and whatever else it will cost to transport them to the wedding venue…what kind of gift do you expect them to give you again? Na the remaining CHANGE dem go take wrap anything wey dem see for you o.This same lady was so mad at me for refusing to be a part of the ASO EBI show. She reported me to God knows how many people…all I did was pay what it would have cost me to buy the ASO EBI into her account but I refused to go for the wedding because I was not ready to incur extra expenses for some cloth that I will probably not wear twice. There is a huge lesson for ‘newly marrieds’ here…don’t heap unreasonable expenses on people just because you want things to be all colourful on your day. Some of that money they can spend on ASO EBI will come handy for you when the chips are down. Every newly wedded knows that POCKET GOES DRY after the wedding expenses. You can’t expect to receive reasonable gifts after making people part with so much money on your ASO EBI.If there must be an ASO EBI…let the price be reasonable. How can you be selling a 3k worth of ANKARA to your guests for about 15k? It really is not a ‘must’ to wed when you are not economically ready to undertake the task but making people finance your wedding indirectly (by exploiting them on the ASO EBI matter) is most cheapening. Another thing is doing things within your capacity, you are not in competition with anybody and besides, the focus of every newly married should be to ‘tarry with each other’ through thick and thin…all that ‘show’ never makes a marriage. That is why I wish there was some ‘happily ever after’ guarantee for those that now jet out of the country to conduct their engagements/weddings. Marriage itself is rather too ‘substance based’-for all that ‘show’…my two cents!
