ASPPH-Member’s Preparedness Work Spotlighted at 2014 Public Health Preparedness Summit PrepSummitPresentations from faculty at ASPPH-member schools and programs of public health from the CDC-funded Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Centers (PERLC) and Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Centers (PERRC) will be featured at the 2014 Public Health Preparedness Summit this April in Atlanta. The 2014 Summit, “Stronger Together: Aligning Public Health and Healthcare Preparedness Capabilities to Protect Our Communities”, is hosted by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and sponsored by several partner organizations, including ASPPH. PERLC and PERRC led sessions will be held from Tuesday, April 1 – Friday, April 4. Session topics include public health preparedness for at-risk populations, the use of social media and communications in preparedness planning and during emergencies, and collaborations between academia and public health preparedness practitioners. In addition, ASPPH will be hosting a town hall on the translation of research to practice on Thursday, April 3 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Panelists will include Dr. Edward Baker of the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health PERRC and Ms. Maegan Berliner and Dr. David Abramson both of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health PERLC.
