>ASUP STRIKE:HND-BACHELOR DEGREE. I sincerely commend FG in her efforts to solve issues with ASUP,all hands must be on deck.We do hope the Technical Commit.on the review of HND Curriculum will come up with good news to the Polytechnic Students. With the introduction of B.Tech in Polytechnics,we hope the Polys will be converted to Polytechnic Universities. The autonomy of mounting and accrediting of B.Tech should be within jurisdiction of NBTE with amandment of acts that established NBTE.Meaning B. Tech should be practically oriented.Converting Polys to Polytechnic Universities will reduce large number of students that missed admissions into varsities and the nunber of [fpi info]unemployment will be reduced, more teaching and admin staff will be employed in the Polytechnic universities. The B. Tech Programme should accomodate the present HND holders to pursue B. Tech one year up grading programme (L/CREDIT) to solve the crises of the civil servants and those with pass in their HND result (1.5yr).[fpi info] Taking FG to court by the HND holders is not the solution, the way out is to imminensly contribute to the commencement of B.Tech. Internship in B.Tech curriculum should also be introduced in the second semesters of year 1,2 and 3,this will help in differentiating B.Tech with other Universities Bachelors Degree.ND Programme should also comtinue to be in existance. TETFUND scholarships should be increased in to Polytechnics to allow more opportunities for staff development.I know Polys have alot of Ph.D holders, but other staff should be encouraged. Programme Coordinators in NBTE should also be awarded with TETFUND schoolarships, they mount and accredit Polytechnic Programmes.. I call on some people that misunderstand the system to keep away from making comparison, alotof Polytechnics in the advance countries were converted to fully pledge universities like UK,USA etc.Only local champions with local exposure can challenge B.Tech .There is nothing wrong in converting the Present Polytechnics in to Polytechnic University or University College to award B.Tech
