ASUP vows to continue its 2- month old nationwide strike.Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has vowed to continue with the ongoing strike until the Federal Government meets all its demands, saying the nonchalant attitude of government towards the demands of the union warranted strike in the first place. According to the resolutions of the 74th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union, held at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Clement, and made available to Nigerian Tribune in Jos, the union also frowned at the leadership crisis rocking the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and called on the governors to conduct themselves in line with democratic principles in order to safeguard the political future of the nation. It condemned the dichotomy against polytechnic graduates at entry and in career progression in public service and called for a level-playing ground for graduates from the various tertiary sectors. The union also rejected the discriminatory cut-off points for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education and called for harmonisation of the cut- off points into tertiary institutions in the country.
