AT RISK FOR EUTHANIZATION. Sammy (Samson) needs rescue. He has bitten several people now. All on the butt. No reports were made and he is not labeled as dangerous or potentially dangerous. His euth appt has been postponed for now, however, he needs a home quickly or will be put down. He cannot stay where he is currently. Sammy was rescued from a breeder at 18 months. His upbringing may have contributed to his behavior as the conditions were less than desirable and socialization lacking. From his owner, Angela Elser: Need to re-home this beautiful boy - 4 yr old Standard Poodle - Samson (Sammy). This impressive athlete comes from an champion agility breeder in GA and is smart as a whip. He did the 6 weeks Trick class in 90mins! Hes done Obedience III with Canine Coach. This little guy is truly a gifted performer and if he could chose his destiny it would be the Circus. Heres the FULL DISCLOSURE RUB ~ HE BITES BUTTS. Not everyone, not always. He needs a vigilant handler that will never let him get the chance. Ive spent thousands on classes, clickers, aggression specialists, books etc. Im not getting anywhere with this guy. Maybe you can? His butt bite vics are random. Old man, toddler, Mom pushing a stroller, friend coming the back door, etc, he always retreats and comes right back home after the damage is done. I live in the city with no fenced yard (not possible). Too many pedestrian hazards here for this guy to manage. The ideal situation for Samson would be a suburban home with an enormous fenced yard and active healthy humans who want an athletic companion and who also perhaps has another dog. Sammy does well with a companion animal (not cats). He needs a lot of exercise (I have a bike attachment - he can do 3 miles) and slow introductions but generally plays well with other dogs. I do supervise the play sessions. Hes not possessive of toys or food and hes a very picky eater. He said no to bacon this morning. The good news? Hes an Olympic snuggler and a terrific road trip companion. He loves to show off at gas stations by running through the tricks he knows for strangers. Help me - help Samson. I have a euthanasia appointment scheduled, but would consider cancelling if the right handler showed up.
