ATT: A CONNING INSTITUTION IN TOWN Information reaching our desk this morning indicates that theres a mushrooming college in Maralal Town with intention to collect money from parents and students in return of full scholarship for those willing to join middle colleges just immediately after the release of K.C.S.E. results that topped Samburu County nationally. MILELE AFRICA INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY is alleged to be a coning institution that has opened a branch in Maralal Town and offering scholarships targeting students who are willing to join Middle Colleges to pursue various courses. Its alleged that the institution which its exact location has not yet been identified in Maralal is moving round (individuals) distributing applications for full scholarship and admission forms with requirements of 2 passport size photograph, 1 full photograph, ID Photocopy, Results slip and non-refundable fee of Ksh 2,000. Confirming the allegations from the Ministry of Education, D.E.O Samburu Central Mr. Abdi Karim confirmed to Serian 88.9 FM that the said institution is not a registered college under his office and the Ministry is not aware of MILELE AFRICA INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT & TECHNOLOGY that offers scholarships. The D.E O also informed Serian F.M that the said college early on introduced it self under KENYA BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE of which after investigation and inquiry, Kenya Baptist Theological College based in Tigoni Limuru confirmed to the Ministry of Education Maralal through a letter dated 13/02/2014 that the Kenya Baptist Theological College has not opened a branch in Maralal. The Ministry of Education and The Kenya Police are now investigating the alleged institution and is calling upon the parents, Students and the entire public to be watchful of the mushrooming unregistered institutions and con men targeting the education sector. Its advisable you report such matters to the nearest police station or in the Ministry of Education once you come across.
