Gold Coast MTB Club Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Dopson (Doppo) to the Committee in the position of Downhill Director. Mick will work closely with Downhill Coordinator (currently myself) and Downhill Coordinator elect - Kurt Brodie for the management of Downhill activities with a major focus on track management at Illinbah. Keep an eye out for posts from Mick & Kurt requesting assistance to get Illinbah back up and running now that all the road work repairs have been completed. The Club has engaged Pete Wilson - Trailworx to undertake a recut and reshaping of the track between the DH start and entry to Top Forest which will commence on 28 July 2014. Pete will also be asked to look at upgrading the Chute from Top Forest exit to The Flyover at the same time. The funds to undertake this work comes from those generated at previous Social DH Ride Days to ensure that the track and facility is presented in the best possible condition for ride days and competition events so please continue to support these events when organised. There is a Press Release coming in the next few weeks regarding 2014 Qld State Downhill Champs to be contested at Illinbah on 4-5 October so put that date away in your diary because it will be bigger and better than ever before!!
