ATTENTION BAND STUDENTS AND PARENTS!!! Please make sure band students are well-hydrated and have eaten breakfast before coming to summer band. TRUST ME, I understand how hard it is for some kids to eat breakfast. If nothing else sounds good to them/you, drink some juice or a smoothie. Drinking tons of water at one time is not a good idea, either. Just ask the kids who did that and then ran a lap around the practice field first thing this morning.......ew. Remember that you cant suddenly hydrate yourself the morning of practice! What you do the day BEFORE affects how your body reacts the next day. If you do get dehydrated and feel nauseous or like youre about to pass out, do not try to tough it out! I know you dont want to be a wimp or be the one who disappoints your leaders or whatever. Once youre to the nauseous and faint stage, youre WAY dehydrated. Its time to sit down IN THE SHADE and sip water. Sometimes, well have you go inside until youre feeling better. Yes, it means you are missing valuable marching time. We need you healthy and at your best. Welcome to Texas summer band.
