ATTENTION DENVER: Federal Election Commission (FEC) Vice Chair Ann - TopicsExpress

ATTENTION DENVER: Federal Election Commission (FEC) Vice Chair Ann Ravel will be at the University of Colorado Denver this Thursday, October 9, at 7:00pm for a public forum. The event includes an extensive public comment portion, and every attendee will be given a chance to speak. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP on our event page — Rep.Us is working with local orgs on the ground in Denver to drive turnout, and getting a rough idea of how many folks to expect makes our organizers’ lives much easier :) : volunteer.represent.us/denver_fec_hearing The FEC is the agency in charge of enforcing federal rules on money in politics. Commissioner Ravel wants to use the FEC’s existing power to enforce the laws we already have, but the commission is completely gridlocked. They’ve failed to investigate everything from major alleged violations by conservative dark money groups to a Democratic super PAC suspected of illegal activity. Three commissioners are responsible for blocking these critical investigations. Just three people are single-handedly making our elections more vulnerable to fraud and corruption, and they have yet to face any public backlash for it. This is a great opportunity to voice our support for Vice Chair Ravel, and call out obstructionist FEC commissioners on the record and in public (we’ll have videographers at the forums to catch all of the public comments so we can push particularly powerful testimony out online) Also, while you don’t have to speak (just attending is most important — We really want to pack the room to drive a big press hit), we’ve pulled together a handy speaker’s guide for those of you who want to take advantage of the public comment section but don’t know where to start: https://represent.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/FEC-Worksheet1.pdf Hope to see you there! ~ The Rep.Us Team
