ATTN: Any families that identify with the Amazon series “TransParent” The Development Coordinator for Lion TV, Joe Stanton, is searching for families that are going through the same kind of experience as the Pfefferman’s on Amazon’s new series “Transparent.” The production company is looking to document two or three families’ journeys as they navigate the unchartered waters when one of their parents identifies as transgender. Ideally, he would love to speak with families who are near the start of their journey, who may still have questions and perhaps are even struggling with the new family dynamic. He stressed to me that they are not looking to exploit or make fun of the situation, but rather show the true story – both highs and lows – of how a parent’s declared identity later in life affects their family. They are hoping to get as close to the tone of “Transparent” as possible to make it more about the family then any sensationalism. Lion TV is an unscripted entertainment production company in New York. Joe states they have produced more than 350 hours of programming for US broadcasters including PBS, Fox and Bravo/NBC, Discovery, MSNBC, CBS, A&E, HBO, VH1, National Geographic, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel and MTV.
