AUGUSTA - Marcelle Y. Gosselin, 89, formerly of Orchard Street, Augusta and Punta Gorda, Fla., died at her home Saturday, March 1, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born in Waterville on April 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Herbert L. Butler and Corinne (Mercier) Butler. Mrs. Gosselin was a dedicated wife and mother, raising a family of 10 children. She was previously employed by Bates Manufacturing, Edwards Division, for several years. She was a communicant of St. Michael Parish and was a member of the Cushnoc Senior Citizens, a former member and past president of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and a former member of St. Agnes Circle Daughters of Isabella. Her husband, Reginald M. Gosselin, Sr., predeceased her on Dec. 21, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Roger J. Gosselin on Oct. 4, 1969, and Michael J. Gosselin on April 24, 1993, and several siblings. Surviving is a daughter, Claire Parent and her husband Mark of Hampton, Va.; seven sons, Carl Gosselin and his wife Shirley of Augusta, Reginald M. Gosselin, Jr. and his wife Lois of Brandon, Fla., Gerard Gosselin and his wife Beverly of Manchester, Philip Gosselin and his wife Linda of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Jean Gosselin and his wife Debbie of Benton, Maurice Mo Gosselin and his wife Sharon of Chelsea and Patrick Gosselin and his wife Stacy of Norridgewock; 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to staff of MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta campus, and the staff of HealthReach Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Mom and the family during her illness. Relatives and friends may visit from 2-5 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Spring burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.
