AWU : “SAVE US FROM THE R.E.T” So the Australian Workers Union has called for the aluminum industry to be exempted from the renewable energy target, warning that if the RET ismaintained in its current form, it would lead to thousands of jobs shifting overseas with no ¬environmental gain. But hang on a minute – wasn’t the RET meant to lower “wholesale” electricity prices and create jobs ? The Australian Workers Union have belled the cat, the RET will INCREASE electricity price and cost jobs - all for no environmental gain. But it will make some feel good, under the delusion that they are “taking action against climate change”. (And it will also make some large foreign multinationals in the wind industry very rich). Claims of lower electricty prices and more jobs are simply a con job.
