AYNI – reciprocity To give and receive from the heart—to create balance Kwey, Kwey Everyone, The Rainbow Flame Medicine Lodge has recently been asked to participate in a 4-5 year project that would bring Education and Medical Care to the mountain people in Central Peru. At the moment their most important need is a sustainable food source in order to combat wide spread malnutrition. Because of the amount of time establishing gardens will take, one short term simple solution may be the use of modified EARTHBOXES. These are being used both in schools and community gardens across North America with good success. (Information can be found on-line). Secondly, according to a UNICEF report, there is a 35% neonatal death rate directly related to malnutrition that has been lowered to 5% with the use of pre natal vitamins. At the moment, we are looking into the legality of bring them into the country. Fund Raising...just a few ways some of us have come up with to help fund this project. *The past and present students of The 8th Fire will be holding the second annual Day of Service on Sunday Sept 22nd at Healing Connections Wellness Centre in Edmonton. The students along with the Healing Connections staff will be making available a variety of healing sessions to the public for donations. *Dancy has donated some of her no longer being used jewelry items and to date has raised 75.00; *Michele will be holding a Farm/Household item auction with a donation to the cause; *Marlene is looking into helping to put on a local WALK to Prevent Hunger; *Shelly is organizing a silent auction; *Karin is researching the pre natal vitamins; If you would like to be of service, have new or interesting ideas, would like to help with online research or knit a pair of much needed socks, we can use your enthusiasm, knowledge and energy!!
