AYURVEDIC HOME CURES :: #Cholesterol cure - Cholesterol is a waxy substance, the synthesis of which takes place in all animal cells. Molecules called lipoproteins transport it in the blood. While you need cholesterol for the proper functioning of your body and construction of healthy cells, too much of it can be harmful as it leads to deposits of fat in your blood vessels, making you prone to cardiovascular diseases. However, there are Ayurveda remedies to deal with such situations.. It has been observed in recent studies that people with low blood cholesterol are as much at risk for atherosclerosis as those with high cholesterol. The reason behind this is that LDL gets converted into a toxic form of oxidized LDL due to the presence of oxygen free radicals in the blood, which is what makes it dangerous. And this can occur as much in the body of a person who has less cholesterol as the one whose cholesterol is high. How to control and prevent it? To tackle the harms of bad cholesterol, we have to intervene at the very genesis, blocking the toxic transformation of LDL. Having a healthy and disciplined lifestyle goes a long way as does the cures mentioned here. •Have fresh fruits and healthy grains like oats, dalia, and other sources of soluble fiber in your breakfast. •Consume fishes likes mackerel, salmon, herring and lake trout. They improve HDL and lower LDL. •Avoid having oils rich in Omega 6 like safflower oil and corn oil. Olive oil is the best bet. •Have anti-oxidant rich foods such as apples, strawberries, carrots, spinach, broccoli and nuts. •Ayurveda remedies suggest garlic, curry leaves and turmeric since they possess cholesterol lowering qualities. •Involve yourself in some kind of physical activity every day. You can swim, dance, jog etc. If not anything, at least walk in a moderate pace for about half an hour a day. Cure - •Blend yoghurt with water and let it settle. Strain the liquid that settles in the bottom and add a pinch of salt, some curry leaves, a slice of ginger and chopped green chilies. Have this once daily. •Guggulu or Commiphora mukul can be used to lower cholesterol. Nowadays, it is easily available at any credible Ayurveda store. You should use it as per the instructions on the container. •Grill one or two cloves of garlic and have it with your main meal each day
