Aaron Ramsey is set to follow Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky by signing a new contract at Arsenal, according to reports. The Guardian reports that Ramsey, who has been sidelined for two months with a thigh problem, has agreed a new five-year contract that is set to double his existing wage packet. The deal, said to be worth £100,000 per week, will make Ramsey the club’s second highest earner behind record signing Mesut Ozil and reflects the importance of the Wales international to the team. Ramsey only signed a new contract with the club 18 months ago and has over two years left on his current deal but manager Arsene Wenger has moved quickly to secure the future of one of the most sought after players in Europe. Negotiations between Arsenal and Ramsey’s representatives have been ongoing for the last month and the deal could be announced in the coming days. The Telegraph report that the club are also close to securing the future of Santi Cazorla, with the former Malaga man set to agree a new £80,000 per week deal. However, the Gunners look set to lose Bacary Sagna on a free come the end of the season. Sagna, signed from Auxerre in 2007, has yet to agree an extension to his contract that runs out at the end of the season and with negotiations at an impasse could well leave the club on a free transfer, with a host of clubs including Inter Milan and Liverpool interested.
