Abak Monarchs At War The Paramount Ruler of Abak HRM Okuku Christopher Paul Ukpe during the town hall meeting held in Abak federal constituency shocked the governor and mammoth audience when he pointed accusing fingers at the Clan Head of Abak HH Obong Friday Uko of being the brain behind illness and the death of the former Paramount Ruler who died in mysterious circumstances. According to him, the clan head poured juju which caused his illness and challenged him to swear to the traditional “mbiam” if he was not responsible. The paramount ruler also informed the governor that he has been paid his palace upkeep for only three times and has therefore been difficult for him to manage as he has sold majority of his properties in a bid to pay his hospital bills. The governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio who had least expected such comments called on the Clan Head of Abak, Chief Friday Uko in his submission said that he was a Christian, and elder and therefore had no hand in his illness or the death of the former Paramount Ruler. Chief Akpabio however assured the Paramount Ruler that the government would assist him medically and called on the commissioner for health and that of local government to arrange modalities to send the traditional ruler abroad for proper medical treatment. The governor also called on the chairman of Abak to answer on the irregular payment of Palace upkeep where the chairman Mr. Joseph Ikpaisong said that though the council has not been paying regularly, it had paid more than two times as alleged by the Paramount Ruler. Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko while commending the governor on the various programme and projects done in the federal constituency draw his attention to the Itiat kiet Owo Edip road which connects the community to Abia state and seek that the road be given attention. Also speaking an elder statesman, Mr. Archibong market Akpan called on the governor to visit Mkpoketo road and the Paramount Rulers roads. Meanwhile, a former Inspector General of Police, DIG, Udom Ekpoudom (Rtd.) has accused Governor Godswill Akpabio aides of being blackmailers that may make the governor not to earn his tenure well if he (Akpabio) do not check their activities. Ekpoudom said that the activities of some of the governors aides are selfish ambition and ego centrism and not working in the interest of the governor. His words, “some of your aides are experts in blackmail… They are having personal ambitions and they are not for you. They go about to blackmail people, blackmail people and blackmail people”. The former police top shot said he has never had any intention to contest for any senatorial seat under any party. He said that, his being linked to the Ikot Ekpene senatorial ambition is the handiwork of the governors aides that want to spoil the good relationship he has had with the governor. Governor Akpabio while responding defended his aides, saying that he carefully selected them to work with him. He however added since Jesus Christ upon what he did while on earth, had Judas among the twelve disciples, he will not rule out such persons among his aides.
