Abdul-Baha is reputed to have said, I will not dwell on the unpleasant things in life but does that mean we ignore them, neglect them, deny them and change the subject? Do we use prayer and scripture to avoid feeling the pain and anguish of our worldly lives, or do we use them to face and embrace them? Theres a subtle but important difference, well worth the inner truthfulness it takes to stay on track with true spiritual development.
