About 1:30am this morning, police attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata on Axminster Street, Warnbro for a Random Breath Test. It is alleged the driver failed to stop and was pursued by police through the Warnbro, Waikiki and surrounding areas. The police helicopter kept the vehicle in sight and followed it for approximately 40 minutes until the vehicle was abandoned on Devitt Grove in Parmelia. The occupants of the vehicle fled, and attempted to hide in the driveway of a home in Skottowe Parkway, Parmelia. Officers in the police helicopter directed ground officers to their location and they were apprehended. A 19 year old Rockingham man has been charged with Reckless Driving (Evade Police); Fail to Stop (Aggravated) and No Authority to Drive. He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on 6 June 2014. The other two male occupants of the vehicle have been released without charge.
