About 2 months ago I met this man. We (red roof retreat day program) bought him a warm meal and a hot beverage. I asked him what he is in need of in case I could find him some items in his size. He asked for a pair of boots. I asked if there was anything else and he mentioned a couple of other items but made it clear that a pair of boots would be plenty enough and he was so thankful for just that. I managed to put together a nice bag of items for him: a coat, sweater, hat, mits, blanket, socks, tims card, and of course... The boots. I told him I would keep coming back on market days to give him anything I came up with. After many weeks of returning to the market and not finding him, I started to give up. Its been about a month that we (red roof day program - it was a project to try and find him these goods and deliver it to him) didnt go to the market because of the holidays and busy schedules. Today, I had the opportunity to go out with one of my best friends on her lunch break to hand out tims cards, hats, mits, and some other items. As we passed by the market place, I saw market man! I yelled stop the car!!!. As he saw us pull up, he recognized me and started grinning ear to ear as he must have known that I had a special delivery for him. When I gave him the care package, he was ecstatic and beyond thankful. There really is no better feeling than giving with intention and meaning. ❤️
