About Ride for Kids Ride for Kids is a national series of motorcycle charity rides that has helped the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) become the world’s largest nongovernmental funder of childhood brain tumor research. Thanks to the generous support of the motorcycling community, progress is being made in the fight against one of the deadliest forms of childhood cancer. It all began with friends helping friends. When a colleague’s child was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Mike and Dianne Traynor wanted to do something to help. In 1984 they raised $4,000 at the first Atlanta Ride for Kids and never looked back. As the event’s popularity grew, it expanded to other cities. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation was established in 1991 to distribute research grants and offer family support programs. More than 28,000 people in the United States are living with the diagnosis of a pediatric brain tumor, and 11 more cases are identified each day. From developing improved treatment options to awarding college scholarships to brain tumor survivors, the PBTF works to eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors. Ride for Kids supports this cause with more than 40 events across the United States. These family-friendly, escorted rides feature uplifting interviews with survivors as well as drawings for a new Honda motorcycle and other great prizes. American Honda is the presenting sponsor of Ride for Kids. Other supporters include GEICO, Bell Helmets and Cycle World magazine. Motorcycle dealers and many other motorcycle industry partners provide local event support. Register today at rideforkids.org or call 800-253-6530 for more information.
