About two or three weeks ago, when Lee Ann took that much need vacation up to Portland to see Ben, shop and eat her way through town, I stayed home doing my fall breakdown chores. I don’t need to explain the intensity of this project…but it’s intense! Much to my surprise, I found tell tale signs of a gopher. We have never had gophers here before but I am a worldly guy and knew what we were up against. I waited to freak out when Lee Ann got home. She told me not to freak out and she would get something for it the next day, which she did. She purchased some smokers to rid us of these varmint. So we smoked him…and he returned. I didn’t “freak out” and we smoked him again. Two days later he was digging things up again! I stood quiet, quite stoic if you ask me. Lee Ann went back to the store and bought traps…traps that kill in the most unpleasant of ways. “I don’t want to see this or anything to do with this,” she said. I was to set the traps tonight when I returned from the place that I do not mention. I got a call from her, my wife. She had talked with a exterminator that recommended poison instead of the traps, do it yourself poison that was more potent than the stuff they are allowed to use, due to liability issues. If that doesn’t work they could do a one month service for about $179.00. OK then…I have been a trooper thus far. Can I start to freak out now? We are moving from one attempt to another, nothing is working. We have thrown time and money and now we need to throw more time more money at this with the hopes it will work! I melt down and when I melt down I rant and so goes my rant! The next thing you know Bill Murray is going to show up and use dynamite in these holes, the house will be gone and a gopher will be dancing across the street to a Kenny Loggin’s song! I’ve seen the movie, can I freak out now!? “Your life is not a movie,” Lee Ann says. She never watches my videos obviously. I set the traps and wait for tomorrow, tomorrow, will start the day tomorrow…
