Above all, freedom, liberty, means this: So long as you do not violate the consent of others, you are free to be as stupid as you like with your own body and own your life. Freedom is in essence the right to make choices that others feel are idiotic. Freedom is the right to be stupid. Also hidden in that right is the right to be a genius. Genius, being non-conforming, appears stupid to the masses. The highest duty of a genius is to educate society about the dangers involved in losing respect for the right of an individual to behave like a moron. The future of the species rests on its ability to adapt. Our ability to innovate is the one and only thing that brought this odd little ape to the top of the food chain. When outliers and mutations are no longer permitted, we are all in big trouble. The tendency to centralize authority to protect the greater good is the greatest evil, the most dangerous threat to society as a whole that humankind has ever faced. It could wipe us all out.
