Abstract - This paper presents the adaptive control of a PWM based Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). The effectiveness of this compensator depends on the choice of the local control strategy. the project to a control application of artificial neural networks and compare with the conventional methods of control design. In this neural network application are used in a control structure by neural inverse model. . The performance of these hybrid control systems and their ability to cope with disturbances and their results are compared to that of a digital PI-controller with a thorough analysis of simulation. Operational amplifier saturation introduction Industrialization and population growth are the primary factors for which the consumption of electrical energy is steadily increasing. Thus, to be a balance between production and consumption, it is first necessary to increase the number of power plants, lines, transformers etc., which implies an increase in cost and environmental degradation. Consequently, it is now important to work near the limits of stability to Meeting these new requirements. We complete the action by implementing electronic power devices at high response speed, newly developed and known by the name FACTS (Flexible Alternative Curent Transmission System) to control networks [HIN00]. The recent development of FACTS devices opens up new opportunities for more efficient network operation by continued rapid action on various network parameters (phase, voltage, impedance). Thus, the power flows will be better controlled and well kept tensions, which will increase the margins of stability or tend towards thermal limits of the lines. Transient stability studies concern major disturbances such as short circuit the loss of work or production group etc. ... The consequence of these defects can be very serious and can even lead to the complete collapse of the network. The purpose of this work is to show how the use of heuristic techniques in the field of power systems. This work is based on transient stability of a power system using the most powerful of FACTS devices, the UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller) which consists of two parts: • a parallel portion which injects current to the network, • a serial portion which injects a voltage in series with the network. We show the design, principles of operation, the mathematical model of the UPFC. We go through the various traditional control methods. We use bandpass filters to solve problems in decoupling PWM We examine the general definitions of neural networks whose objective is to achieve identification neural networks and calculate the inverse regulators. Following is exposed implementation of adaptive control by neural inverse model of the UPFC and the BMI method of neuron networks .. As conclusion, we implement the results of the different proposed orders and evaluated including the PI controller and suggest some research work as prospects. MAZEN.DABBAGH
