According to Evan Grant (Dallas Morning News), Alex Cora and Torey Lovullo, each of whom interviewed last week for the Rangers’ manager post, have confirmed that they are no longer in the running for the job. Grant reported over the weekend that Texas was expected to pare the list of eight candidates who have interviewed down to three and perhaps bring them in for second visits before deciding on the club’s 2015 skipper — a process that Jeff Wilson (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) reports should be complete this week. Of the six remaining candidates — Tim Bogar, Mike Maddux, Steve Buechele, Jeff Banister, Joe McEwing, and Kevin Cash — Bogar, Banister, and Cash seem to be generating the most media buzz. Grant speculates that the odds for each might be as follows: Bogar 1:1 Banister 2:1 Cash 5:1 McEwing 6:1 Maddux 10:1 Buechele 15:1 Stay tuned — it sounds like we’re going to know something pretty soon.
