According to a report on Catalan television channel TV3s Esport Club show, Luis Enriques days as Barcelonas manager are numbered. Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu is said to have sat down with Leo Messi after the Elche game on Thursday and voiced his full support for the Argentinian star, allegedly telling him that Enrique is as good as gone. Messi is even believed to have named Frank Rijkaard as the ideal man to take over when the current boss gets the chop. If the report is accurate, the result in Sundays six-pointer against Atlético de Madrid is neither here nor there and not even a win would be enough to save Enriques bacon. A stay of execution is the best he could hope for. Bartomeu is not stupid and knows that the majority of the fans are on Messis side, as was clearly shown during the Elche match. He remains determined to stand in the presidential elections at the end of the season and is well aware that doing so without keeping Messi sweet would give him an even slimmer chance of winning than all the polls suggest.
