According to the new Collective Agreement of the harmonised salaries, Nursing Officers (Degree Holders), K5,155 basic pay, 20% housing allowance and 10% transport allowance of basic pay(Total is K6,701 before uniform, risk and night duty allowance). Registered Nurses/Midwife (Diploma Holders) basic pay is K3,500.00 Housing allowance is calculated at 20% of the basic salary, with 10% of the basic pay (Total K4,550.00 before uniform, risk and night duty allowance). Enrolled Nurses K3,328.00 with 20% housing allowance and 10% transport allowance (Total K4,343.40 before uniform, risk and night duty allowance). But the Nurses want K4,000 (Housing allowance and shift allowance) plus a 100% basic salary hike. This will translate into Basic Salary of K9,897.60, Housing + Shift K4,000.00 and Transport K990.00 = K14,887.60 (for degree holders). Meanwhile, the other public service workers should remain stuck at K5,155 (Basic Pay). The question is: Are medical personnel public service workers??
