Ace cartoonist Shri Mangesh Tendulkar hands out road safety message special greetings on Diwali to Punekars. The 78-year old cartoonist started the campaing of his on road safety via greeting cards specially designed on him for the occassion in 1996 to create awareness amongst people about road safety. This year being the 17th year of his road safety campaign, veteran cartoonist Shri Mangesh Tendulkar distributed over 20,000 special greeting cards, specially designed by him with messages about safe driving practices, during the recently concluded auspicious Diwali festival. Social activists including: Sandeep Khardekar, Ravi Deshpande, Arti Despande participated with Shri Tendulkar in his noble initiative. Shri Guusiddaya Swami, citizen who lost his son in a tragic accident volunteers with Shri Tendulkar. Seen sporting paper vest over his shirt, with message aptly displayed on it: The city can become accident free with every ones support. Unmistakably spotted near the now-busy Nal stop junction at Karve road during peak traffic hours in the morning and evening rush hour his cards focused on driving on wrong side of the roads, rash driving, pedestrian safety and the need to use helmets. TSenior traffic branch officials, including: Deputy Commissioner Of Police ( Traffic) Shri Vishwas Pandhare has been a chief support for this unique and noteworthy initiative.
