Achievement of Infrastructural Development in Media Workshop between Myanmar Military and Media Persons Yangon, Dec 20 Achieved has been infrastructural development for coming workshops between Tatmadaw (Myanmar Military) and media groups in discussing media affairs at the workshop on the smooth running of media between both parties held Myawady Hall, Baukhtaw, Yangon on December 20, 2014, said Dr. Myo Thant Tin. “We hope to come an understanding between us. At first we talk to one another in fear of disrupting the workshop. But we have achieved infrastructural development. We’ll go on discussing to reach outputs on how we cooperate in the smooth running of media. Generally speaking, this workshop has successfully been held,” he said. He continued that if the smooth running of media after both parties had built understanding and trust would be of benefit to the country. “Trust building is needed among four pivots so that we can present news stories to people in accordance with journalist ethic. We believe that we need to meet with Tatmadaw, essential to the country as a pragmatic approach in spite of having met with the President and Chief in Commander of Tatmadaw. That’s why we have arranged this workshop” said veteran correspondent U Khin Maung Lay (Mr. Friday) vice president of Temporary Journalist Council – Myanmar. Brig General Soe Naing U, leader of military representatives attending the workshop introduced their officers to media men and discussion about difficulties in covering news concerning military, immediate action that should be done and suggestions for long term relationship. “As media, we have some difficulties in releasing news products when Tatmadaw delay telling the news. The life of all news products is time line,” said U Aung Thura, in charge of reporters of 7 Day News Journal. Daw Aye Chan Moe, in charge of reporters of Union Daily Newspaper said that media wanted the military to invite media men to the military exercises and other ceremonies and hold press release every now and then and attach some liaison officers in each of military division. The military representatives composed of Colonels including a Brig General explained the military affairs concerned with them to the media men. “Of all the past, present and future, we read the present. That’s why we have arranged this workshop to cooperate with media men to build our state. As Tatmadaw is not a political party, we won’t take advantage of media’s collaboration. It’s just cooperation with each other for the sake of the country,” said the high ranking officer attending the workshop. Sai Vira
