Acts 1:9—After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. Their spiritual wings have been growing. But are they strong enough to fly above the storms of our sinful world? Will the heat of temptation singe their wings of faith? Do they have a chance at a tomorrow? We look at them because we also look at ourselves with the same question. Time to look again at the ascending Lord Jesus. That’s no mere mortal. He’s the God-man who came to earth to save us. He’s no fake, no pushover. He’s the almighty Lord, who rules over everything. Nor does he rule arbitrarily or according to whim. The ascended Savior rules always with the interests of his church in mind. God has put all things in his hands, and his hands are strong enough to hold them. With such a ruling Lord, those graduates and I have a tomorrow. Prayer: Lord, help me believe that you are giving me a good tomorrow, even when I can’t see it. Amen.
