Acts 15:1-2 there were those who came down from Judea and taught - TopicsExpress

Acts 15:1-2 there were those who came down from Judea and taught the brethren that they needed to be circumcised according to the Law of Moses in order to be saved. Here was a challenge to the word of the Lord in order to study this in depth we would need to look at Romans and Galatians, as these men tried to bring a tradition in a long with the gospel, this would mean works would be added to the free gift, Paul says we are not saved by works but by grace through faith. Being circumcised is nothing and being uncircumcised is nothing, what is important is that we need to be circumcised in heart through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We can learn from this by looking at traditions that have come into the church, and there are those who tell us in order to live for Jesus we need to operate these traditions, which is a lie and are not godly. What happened Paul and Barnabas had a dispute with these men and it was agreed that they should go to Jerusalem and talk with the Apostles and the elders there about this question. I believe Paul who was gifted in the law and saw the reality of Christ in the law and the prophets knew by this time that circumcision now meant nothing because of the new covenant in Christ through the circumcision of the heart through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
