Actually he is right about the BBC as a problem of fairness - - TopicsExpress

Actually he is right about the BBC as a problem of fairness - there is an example from BBC Radio News yesterday about 4.00PM. The first item was Camerons position which is fair enough as Prime Minister. The second item was Salmond countering the Standard Life position, thereby giving publicity to Standard Lifes negative stance on independence and presenting Salmond as defensive. This means that the two items on the Referendum were broadcast as two negative positions to independence and the leader of the yes campaign as merely defensive. That is, bluntly, conscious manipulation of the agenda no different from what happened in the 1974 European Referendum. As I have said, at one level, I dont give a stuff what Scots choose, we and they will adjust to either result but this gross manipulation of the agenda by the BBC is not just a one-off but indicates an organisation that plays the same role within the liberal democratic state that Pravda once played within the Soviet state. Worse, it threatens to degrade relations between Scots and English with the Scots forgetting that the English are as much victims of the British State as they may be. The BBC is not there to inform or analyse. It exists to bring the population gently into line with received wisdom - the unending round of plays written about social services on Radio 4, the religious clap trap, the sub-feminist 1970s bleating in the mornings ... it is the same on reporting of Ukraine or Syria or any number of international problems but this has now been applied amorally and inappropriately to a great national debate where Scots deserve fairness not agit-prop. The BBC is increasingly a national disgrace ...
