Adama II Wind Power Project with an installed capacity of 153MW in Oromia Regional State around 95Km away from Addis Ababa and 5Km away from Adama/Nazareth town is on fast track basis. The elevation of this wind power project area ranges from approximately 1741 to 2173 m a.s.l. The contract was signed with HYDROCHINA CORPORATION- CGCOC JV on October 11, 2012 with a total contract price of 345MUSD. The financing arrangement for the caption Project is envisaged by Preferential Loan that facilitated by the Contractor from EXIM bank of China. From the total contract price, 15% of the EPC price will be paid by Ethiopian Birr and the remaining 85% of the EPC price will be paid in USD from the loan. The proposed wind turbine Adama II wind project site to be an IEC class IIa and the Contractor will provided a geared wind Turbine Generator SE7715.The installed capacity of the wind power project is 153MW, with the quantity of 102 wind turbine generators, 1500kW each and a total energy output of 476.665GWh and an equivalent average full load time of 3115h and having a capacity factor of 35%. It is planned to build a 230kV step-up substation, with a total capacity of 80MVA, each of two transformers will have capacity of 90MVA with voltage level of 230/33kV. The high voltage terminals will be connected to Koka Switch Station by 230kV single circuit overhead line which is about 10km away from Adama II wind power project. The first batch of 51MW will generate power within 13 months from the commencement date and the project will be completed within 18 months from the commencement date.
