Adaptogens. We were talking about Maca powder last night and went looking for it on the Internet. There seem to be quite a few benefits as written on new age web sites (that sell it), however, it was all anecdotal. One thing caught my eye on a few web sites and it was the term Endocrine Adaptogen used to describe Maca powder. Apparently, Endocrine Adaptogen is used to support and balance Endocrine function. Whatever that means. Suspicious that its a pseudoscience term, a quick search around the web turned up a few interesting findings: 1. Most web sites that use the term Endocrine Adaptogen are health food or alternative lifestyle sites that also present fringe theories. 2. If you look at the Wikipedia page for Adaptogen youll find a lot of calls for verification and citations, and disputes on factual accuracy.
